Methods and Ethics

Dunn Dogs is owned and operated by Ally Dunn, a professional dog trainer dedicated to continuously learning about the most ethical and successful training approaches. We will not judge you for any previous training methods or any of your beliefs. Ally created this business to support dogs and owners through training, and educate others about the ethics of dog training. Learn more about our methods here!

Dunn Dogs strives to educate, support, and inspire dog owners and their canines through positive reinforcement training methods. Positive reinforcement is very diverse and layers many techniques and methods in order to tackle the underlying issues. We provide personalized training and enrichment exercises to help you and your pup reach your goals.

At Dunn Dogs, we truly want to set you and your dog up for success.

Our goals can be achieved through effective, fun training practices that empower the dog and owner. Through ethical and responsible dog training, Dunn Dogs strives to create a safe, fun space for dogs and clients to train and learn. We will always advocate for dogs in need and practice the most up-to-date, science-based training methods. This includes positive reinforcement (R+) methods, clicker training, and Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) training protocols. We do not believe in using fear or pain to teach a dog and advocate against aversive methods, including, chokers/pinchers, force, shock collars, etc.

We all deserve to feel safe and free from harm. If you are ever uncomfortable with a training method that any trainer implements, you have the right to speak up. Even if we don't end up being a good client/trainer match - that's okay! I can definitely refer you to some other capable trainers in your area. Find what works best for you and your dog!

Vision Statement:

The vision of Dunn Dogs is to promote an appreciation and understanding of positive reinforcement training methods within the community and the Fraser Valley to the benefit of our canine companions. Our trainers seek to continuously further their education and foster a learning environment for all.

Our training methods align with the methods used by many governing bodies within the dog training profession, including APDT, CCPDT, and AVSAB. Please visit the links below to learn more:
